Born in Cold Springs, Oklahoma. Came to Kern County at early age. Earned 13 high school letters in football, basketball, baseball and track at Bakersfield High School. Voted most valuable player in three sports. Earned four varsity letters at Bakersfield College and voted to All-American Junior College team. Attended University of California, Berkely, where played in Rose Bowl in 1949 and 1950. Was leading scorer and ground gainer in national until injured against Wisconsin. Played one year professional baseball. Coaching career at Coalinga High School, Bakersfield High School. Became baseball coach at Biola College in 1965, now athletic Director. NAIA District III baseball coach of the year 1969 and 1970. Wife Joy; daughters Debby and Sherri.
