Ken Ruettgers

athlete

Inducted February 21, 1991

The Green Bay Packers knew the determination and dedication they were getting gin Ken Ruettgers when they made him the seventh player puked in the 1985 draft. They had seen his diligence in battling back from a knee injury to become a star with the USC Trojans and one of the nation's outstanding offensive lineman. Ruettgers, USC co-captain his senior year, capped his college career with a Rose Bowl victory over Ohio State. Since then (with the exception of a couple of injuries), Ruettgers has been a mainstay of the Packers' line and gained recognition as one of the league's finest. A Bakersfield native, Ruettgers starred at Garces Memorial High School. He still is a Bakersfield resident and, after his playing days are over, plans a career in business and real estate.
