East High graduate in 1969 who had already established his credentials on the national level by the time he won the valley’s 120-pound title his senior year. He was the U.S. Junior Freestyle Championship at age 14 and won the Junior World Championship at 17. After an outstanding collegiate career at Cal Poly SLO, highlighted by his college division national championship at 133 pounds in 1973, Morgan was U.S national freestyle champion and placed fourth in the 1974 World CHampionships held in Tehran, Iran. He was the 149-pound alternate for the 1976 U.S. Olympic team and placed second in the 1977 Pan-American Games. In recent years he worked as a volunteer with Bakersfield High School’s outstanding wrestling teams.
