San Luis Obispo native, came to Bakersfield at the age of two. Three-sports star at North High School. Was All-American end at Bakersfield College (played both ways). Was Junior Rose Bowl star for Renegades. Went on to Oregon State where despite playing only two seasons, broke every important pass-receiving record, establishing records which still stand. Caught 69 passes for Beavers in 1962 and 48 in 1963... top two seasons any OSU receiver has ever enjoyed. Climaxed his college career by being selected for two prestigious awards emblematic of the top senior footballer on the Pacific Coast: the Pop Warner and the Voit Awards. Was consensus All-American for Beavers in 1963. Played in East-West Shrine Game. Played four years in the NFL with 49ers and Saints before knee injury ended his career. Now a real estate developer in Houston.
