Bill Satterfield

Standout athlete at Arvin High School who excelled in football, basketball and baseball. Won the Jim Tyack Award for outstanding Kern County athlete in 1964. Played football and baseball at Bakersfield College, earning All-Metropolitan Conference honors in both sports. Also played football and baseball at Idaho State where he was an All-Big Sky Conference selection in both sports. He led the nation in interceptions and stolen bases at Idaho State and was named NCAA District 7 All-Star shortstop. Was inducted into the Idaho State Hall of Fame in 1988. Spent 30 years as an assistant football coach and 32 years as varsity baseball coach at Arvin High. The Bears won the Valley Sequoia Division football title in 1990 and reached the finals twice in baseball. Had 345 wins as varsity baseball coach at Arvin. Also coached baseball at Garces and Stockdale high schools.
