Bob Hampton

Played football, basketball and baseball at Taft High School and was a four-year varsity basketball player for the Wildcats who helped Taft reach the Valley title game two straight years against Edison of Fresno, winning the title his senior year in 1956. Planned on attending Cal on a basketball scholarship but was sidetracked to Taft College for a year. Was encouraged by then-Taft assistant football coach Al Baldock to attend USC and went there instead, playing three years for the Trojans. Taught and coached at South and Shafter high schools from 1961-67, then spent 12 years coaching basketball at Southwestern and West Hills junior colleges before leaving education to go into private business. Stayed active in athletics and has volunteered his time and financial support as longtime presidents of the Kern County USC Club and the Taft College Foundation. Also serves on the Bob Elias Board of Directors and served 13 years on the Kern High School District Board of Trustees.
