Bruce Pfutzenreuter

Highly regarded wrestling coach who played pivotal role in the sport's success in Kern County. Pfutzenreuter coached wrestling at South High from 1957-1964, then moved to Bakersfield College where he coached the sport for 21 years, from 1961-1985. During his year at South, the Rebels won two South Yosemite League championships. At Bakersfield College, the Renegades had a duel meet record of 264-81-2 in Pfutzenreuter's career and won the 1969 California Community College state championship. BC produced 16 state champions, 66 state placers and 47 All- Americans under Pfutzenreuter. The Renegades also won 32 tournament championships during his career. In addition to the state title in 1969, BC placed second in the state three times and third three times. Among his former wrestlers is another of this year's inductees, Bruce Burnett.
