Graduate of Bakersfield High School, class of 1940. Was an outstanding high school football star. At UCLA, played football in 1940-41-42 and competed in the January 1, 1943 Rose Bowl Game. Entered U.S. Army in 1943. Returned to UCLA after World War II and became an All-American selection at end in 1946. Played in the January 1, 1947, Rose Ball game. Played professional foot-ball for Los Angeles Dons 1947-48-49. In Korean conflict 1951-53. Member of Chamber of Commerce Sports committee and instrumental in staging 1956-58-60 National AAU track meets.
