Graduate of Bakersfield schools. Earned a varsity letter four years in football and four years in baseball at Bakersfield High School. Held “Driller” records in seven categories: yards per carry average in one year, longest run from scrimmage, most yards rushed in career, best punting average in one year, most passes intercepted in one game, longest run of a recovered fumble, most passes intercepted in one season. Most Valuable Player 1960. BHS All-around athlete award in 1961. All-League football 3 years. All-Vally football 2 years. As sophomore at University of Wyoming 2nd in nation and punting with 42.9 average. Led conference in punt returns and 2nd in kickoff returns. Career cut short by serious accident.
