Outstanding pass receiver for San Fransisco 49ers, former stars for Shafter High, Bakersfield College and UCLA. Earned four letters in football, three in basketball and three in swimming at Shafter High. Played two years for BC Renegades, earning all-Metropolitan Conference and all-American honors, and was a member of winning team in Potato Bowl. Had two outstanding seasons for UCLA under Tommy Prothro, including upset win over Michigan State in Rose Bowl. Leads active 49er receivers with 128 catches and average of almost 15 yards per catch. Top season was 1967, 46 receptions for 705 yards including 11 in one game vs. Atlanta. Was named Shafter’s Young Man-of-the-Year by Shafter Chamber of Commerce in January, 1966. Son of Jim and Ruby Witcher. Married to Tirzah.
