Earned 13 varsity letters at Covina High School. Earned four varsity letters in one year (baseball, track, football, basketball) at UCLA. Set a javelin mark at UCLA which stood for 20 years and was captain of the UCLA football team in 1922 and 1923 as a halfback. Joined Kern County Union High School District as coach and instructor in 1924. Coached numerous individual champions and championship teams. Gained national recognition as Chairman of the U.S. Track and Field Committee and was Chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee when he passed away April, 1967. Spent 42 years as guide to youth in Kern County. Member of first Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
