Jeff Buckey

Outstanding offensive lineman at Bakersfield High who was also a standout in track and field. A three-year varsity starter, he earned the 1991-92 Dial Corporation High School Student Athlete of the Year honor. Heavily recruited by some of the most notable college football programs in the national, Buckey chose Stanford University after Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh, who was then the Cardinal coach, visited the Buckey family. An All-Pac-10 pick, Buckey earned an economics degree in four years, and then joined the NFL after being selected in seventh round by the Miami Dolphins in 1996. As a pro he was a 6-foot-5, 300 pound offensive tackle who played four NFL seasons, three in Miami and one with the San Francisco 49-ers.
