Born in Rochester, Minnesota. Came to Bakersfield at age two. Attended local schools. Earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball at Bakersfield High School. All league in football three years. Attended Standford University. Played on two conference championship teams which defeated Ohio State in 1970 and Michigan in 1971 in Rose Bowl. Consensus All-American. Joined Minnesota Vikings, voted to All-Pro team in 1973. Played in Pro Bowl game. Played in Super Bowl in 1974 and 1975. Awarded Vineland Trophy 1973 for recognition as Kern County’s outstanding sports personality. Active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, receiving “Man of the Year” award from that group. Wife Dawn; son Jeff and daughter Maile Dawn.
