Jim Tyack

Starred in football, basketball and track at Bakersfield High and Bakersfield College. Spent 14 years as a pro baseball outfielder, making it to the big leagues in 1943 with the Philadelphia Athletics under Connie Mack. Four-sports star at BHS, also playing basketball. Was starting halfback on 1928 state championship Driller eleven. Set long-standing dash marks at Bakersfield College in 1931 of 9.6 and 21.5 which stood for 19 and 30 years, respectively. Was a star fullback on strong Renegade teams in early 1930’s. Battled over .300 several times in pro career and also managed briefly. One of the organizers and first president of Junior Baseball Association.
