Jim Warren

Inducted February, 1983

In an area made famous in drag racing by the annual March Meet at the Famoso Strip, Warren was an extremely popular and successful campaigner during the 1960's and 1970's and thrilled thousands of local fans by winning three straight March Meet championships, 1975-1977. The "Ridge Route Terrors" dragster, built by Warren Coburn and sponsored by Marvin Miller and Rain for Rent, sped to fast clockings all over the country. Warren was the first drag pilot to ever run at a speed of 230 miles per hour, and he was one of the first to wreak the six-second barrier for the measured quarter-mile. Warren competed in basketball and track Bakersfield High School.
