Kern County's first Olympian. He competed in 1,500 meters at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics but failed to qualify for the finals. He also qualified for the 1908 London Olympics but did not compete because he could not afford the travel expenses to participate. U.S. Olympic athletes in those days had to pay their own expenses. He died on March 7, 1952 at age 65.
