Born in Bakersfield. Attended, Beardsly school and North High School. Went to Redlands University and returned to enter tire business in Bakersfield. Won four world skeet shooting championships: .410 in 1966, 28 gauge in 1969 and 1970, 20 gauge in 1971. Named five times to the Sports A field All-American team. Recently selected as captain of this team for the third time. Has been top of the high average list in various gauges nine times in seven years. Won 12 individual state titles between 1966 and 1969, including the “all-around” 4 consecutive years. First gunner in history to break 400x400 in a registered event. Also holds numerous two-man titles with noted partners.
