Graduate of Taft High School. All-Valley prep football player 1942. All-Valley prep baseball selection in 1940-41-42. Football center Bakersfield Junior College 1944. Started pitching softball at age of 12. First year of pitching in Taft won 30, lost 4. At age of 15, pitched in National Tournament in Detroit. Had 17 no-hit games in the one season and once struck out 43 batters in a 20-inning game. Included in “Believe It Or Not” while in Coast Guard by striking out 27 consecutive batters. Pitched Taft Shamrocks to World Softball Championship in 1948. Named to All-American Team by Softball Congress of America in 1948, 1950, 1951 and 1953. Resides in Taft, California with wife Beverly.
