This Weedpatch product and former Arvin high and Bakersfield College star had an 18-year minor league baseball career as player, coach and manager, with one of his managerial stints being in Bakersfield. The versatile Campbell could be all over the diamond and reached the Class-AA level before ending his active career and going into coaching and managing. In the latter, he earning the somewhat questionable distinction of being the first participant to be ejected from a professional baseball game by a female umpire, Bernice Gera. Campbell prepped at Arvin at the same time another Elias Hall of Famer Johnny Callison, was at East Bakersfield high. One Season, Campbell batted .458 to beat out Callison by a couple of points. "Scooter" also was a star running back for one season for the BC Renegades.
