Outstanding athlete at Wasco High School, Bakersfield College and UC Santa Barbara. Led Wasco to a 10-0 Valley championship season as a senior in 1953, then played two years at BC. Played football and baseball at UC Santa Barbara and played one year of pro baseball before beginning a lengthy coaching career. He was a player-coach for the highly successful Wasco Merchants semipro baseball team that was a County League power in the 1960s. He was head baseball and football coach at Porterville College, an assistant football and baseball coach at Nevada-Reno and then returned to Wasco to teach and coach football and baseball. Became principal of Taft High School in 1972 and even filled in as a basketball coach there for a year while also the principal. Is a member of the Porterville College and Wasco High School halls of fame.
