Born in Providence, Rhode Island. Attended high school and junior college in Colorado. All-State prep selection. All-Conference in junior college football. Attended University of Colorado. All-Big-7 selection in 1943. Entered U.S. Navy, awarded Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Returned to COlorado where he was All-Big-7 tackle 1946-1947. Played in East-West game New Years 1948. Injuries cut short pro career with Detroit. Became head coach Bakersfield High School 1953. Teams have had 12 championship seasons. Undefeated 1958-1963-1964-1967. Selected National High School Coach of Year 1972. Colorado Hall of Fame 1974. National High School coaches Hall of Fame 1975. President National High School Coaches Association 1976. Wife Sally, daughter Paula.
