Theopolis "T" Bell, a track and football star at Bakersfield High, has run to fame and national prominence in college and professional football as a pass catcher and punt returner. Bell was a four-year starter at the University of Arizona. As a wide receiver, punt and kickoff returner, he set an NCAA All-Purpose Yardage Record in 1975, being chosen for several All-American teams. Bell split eight seasons between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tampa Bay Bucs, playing in two Super Bowls. He was the Steelers all-time punt return leader with a 9.1 yard average for 139 returns. His humanitarian efforts earned Bell the NFL Ambassador of Good Will Award for the Greater St. Petersburger-Tampa area as well as Citizen of the Year award.
